Researchers from the UM Bird Ecology Lab share banding results from August 10th through September 13th, 2017.

We captured a total of 402 birds of 35 species at the floodplain site, and 306 birds of 41 species at the Woodchuck site.

By late September, most warblers are far along their route to their tropical wintering ranges and we see less of them as the season progresses.

We caught two Ruffed Grouse on our first day of banding, August 10.

Young male and older female Townsend’s Warblers often have overlapping plumage characteristics.
