A Pine Elfin perches on its namesake caterpillar food plant at MPG North.

Several species of “whites” (Pierinae) fly during spring time in western Montana. Dandelions provide early spring nectar for many insect species like this Becker’s White.

Perched at the upper raptor observation site, this Desert Marble shows an aberrant pattern with most of its ventral hind wing mottled.

A Cow Path Tiger Beetle hunts for prey on a two-track through Sheep Camp sagebrush.

This Boreal Long-lipped Tiger Beetle hides in litter at MPG North. Difficult to hide, however, are its menacing mandibles!
