Berms, new ponds, mountain mahogany, coyote kill, milkweed

We constructed and planted three water catchment berms in two new locations on the north end of the ranch

The new berms were strategically placed in areas that collect water naturally.

The deciduous hedge row along the North Center Pivot is one of the most productive sites we’ve ever planted.

A family of coyotes killed a mule deer in the Orchard House driveway.

Mountain mahogany, planted in 2014, flowered for the first time this year!

The non-native common horehound is the newest species on the kill list

Critters often visit this seep in Central Partridge Alley.

Last week, Will constructed three small pools where the degraded seep flowed.

Most of the milkweed roots we buried in March now boast 6”+ stalks.

Honeybees were thrilled to find apple trees filled with blossoms.

A vetch boasted its vibrant blooms and its ability to grow on the harshest, unstable slope in Partridge Alley.
